Intraoral Scanners

Many patients, especially younger patients, are very familiar with the latest technology and are comfortable with the high tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their primary method of information processing. In our office, We utilize the Medit scanner.

An intraoral scanner is a device that is used to capture a direct optical impression. The scanner projects a light source onto the area to be scanned. The images are captured by imaging sensors and are processed by scanning software, which then produces a 3D model. We use these impressions to have an accurate location of your teeth and allows us to plan for implant therapy. Digital impressions remove the necessity for materials that require to set in the mouth. This strongly reduces discomfort for individuals that have hypersensitive gag reflexes.
